Background
The Commercial Agriculture for Smallholders and Agribusiness (CASA) Programme supports the commercial and development case for investing in agribusinesses that source produces from smallholders in the global South. The summit is designed to provide communities of investors opportunities to reflect on issues affecting the viability and growth of agri- businesses.
This year’s inaugural summit focuses on three research reports commissioned by the CASA program. In addition to the researchers, the three sessions will also feature agribusinesses on the virtual panels reflecting on lessons learned by them and their peers. The platform for the Summit supports the AGRF Deal Room and will facilitate active networking amongst participants.
ICTs for improving investment readiness of small and medium agribusinesses
Digitization and the use of technology are critical in transforming agribusinesses into high-performing and efficient enterprises. With increasing available platforms and tools, agribusinesses must engage and exploit the full benefit of digital efficiency.
This session explores the factors behind the successful deployment of mobile technologies to improve agribusiness productivity and investment readiness while having a positive developmental impact at the smallholder farmer level. eProd Solutions will be one of the presenters.
The discussion will be framed around research conducted by CASA, which analyzed over 100 mobile-based value-added services targeted at agribusinesses across Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. Bringing together a diverse panel representing some of the most successful service providers in the field and facilitating the identification of investment opportunities both at the agribusiness and service provider levels.

The panel discussion will take place on Monday 7th of September 2020 – from 09:30-10:30 GMT. The panel discussion will last 60 minutes during which the lead researcher will have 10 minutes to present the research conducted by CASA and the main findings and each of the panelists will have 5-7 minutes to present their perspective.
